Homeless Veterans Stand Down on Thursday, August 30, 2012
Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center partners with Saginaw City Rescue Mission for Homeless VETERANS Stand Down
The Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center and Saginaw City Rescue Mission will hold a Homeless Veterans Stand Down on Thursday, August 30, 2012. The goal for this Stand Down is to assist Homeless Veterans in our community and provide needed clothing, hygiene products, health screenings, information on VA care and services, and provide assistance through community agencies, shelters, and more.
To make this a successful event for Veterans in need in our community, we need the support of Veteran Service Organizations and community agencies to participate in the event. Their participation can range from providing information at booths on community services, or donations of new clothing (socks, tee shirts, briefs, athletic/sweat pants, sweatshirts), hygiene items (tooth brushes, toothpaste, body wash, deodorant), backpacks or duffle bags, winter clothing items (hats, gloves, boots, coats).
It is also vital that if you are reading this news article and know of any Homeless Veterans in need of assistance that you please invite them to the event. The event will be held at the Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Tittabawassee Road in Saginaw on August 30, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
If you would like to help support this worthy event for deserving Veterans, or if you have any questions, please contact Mary Richards, Homeless Veteran Program Manager, at 1-800-406-5143, extension 11773, not later than August 24, 2012.
