“Supercharge Your Caregiving”

VA Recognizes November’s National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM) During the month of November, VA celebrates National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM) to recognize and honor caregivers of Veterans: our nation’s unsung heroes. Family members, friends and neighbors who care for Veterans play a critical role in ensuring the health of our Veterans, and their efforts may often go unnoticed. November is a time to highlight these caregivers and show appreciation for their indispensable efforts; which often allows Veterans to stay in the homes and communities they defended surrounded by their loved ones.

Not all heroes wear capes. The VA understands caregiving can be hard work, and there are challenges unique to caring for Veterans.  Our nation’s unsung heroes are consistently rising to the demands of their role as caregivers. One way they are accomplishing such a tremendous feat is using the tools and resources available to them. The VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of these resources.

The mission of the VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is to promote the health and well-being of family caregivers who care for our nation’s Veterans. VA offers numerous programs, such as in-home care, adult day health care, respite, and home-based primary care. Caregivers are eligible for additional services, including online and telephone support programs, peer mentoring, and local caregiver support groups. Each VA medical center has at least one Caregiver Support Coordinator (CSC) who can assist caregivers with accessing these support services.

This November, please join VA in recognizing NFCM’s “Supercharge Your Caregiving” activities and the family caregivers who offer so much to improve the well-being of our nation’s heroes. [Insert facility specific events here]
